Judo
Judo class is Wednesday, 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Currently only open to
brown and black belt judokas by permission of the instructor.
Judo is a Japanese martial art in which opponents use balance and body weight, with minimal physical effort, to throw each other or hold each other in a lock. Judo was developed from Jujitsu, a Samurai art, in 1882. Judo has been an Olympic sport since 1962.
Club Olympia Judo was founded and run by Lynn Roethke, Olympic Silver Medalist in Judo at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea. She holds 9 gold metals at the US National Championships and silver in the 1987 World Judo Championships. She is also an eighth-degree black belt.
Pilates
Pilates is an exercise system designed to stretch, strengthen and balance the
muscles of the body. These exercises use a combination of deep breathing and slow controlled movement to align the spine, decompress the joints, strengthen the core, correct muscular imbalances, and release tension.
